In Autodesk Fusion, it is possible to bulk update the Bill of Materials (BOM) for a product using an Excel import. This allows you to,
Delete the existing BOM
Add to and update the existing BOM.
Delete the existing BoM
The first step to update a product's BoM is to delete the incorrect materials/quantities.
1. Go to products (1), apply any filters if needed (2), select all products (3) and export the BoM (4) of all products that respect the filter.
2. Download the file.
3. On the Excel export, apply the filters on the desired column, taking into consideration the update you need to do.
Update the Bill of Materials of a specific product code: Apply the filter on column A
4. Now go to products (1) and select "Import Bill of Materials" (2) and click on the ‘Excel’ link as shown below to download the template for importing BoM.
5. Copy the previously filtered data from the exported file and paste it into the template.
To delete the consumed product, in the "Consumed Product Quantity" column, place the text [delete].
All the BoM of "Mango Cake" will be deleted.
6. Import the template (1) and click confirm (2).
Add/update existing BoM.
You can also add consumed products to the existing BoM.
1. Go to products (1) and select "Import Bill of Materials" (2) and click on the ‘Excel’ link as shown below to download the template for importing BoM.
2. Fill the template with products and their newly consumed products to be added.
3. Import the template (1) and click confirm (2).
Pro-Tip: You can also add new consumed products or delete existing consumed products in a single import, as shown below.
