Autodesk Fusion Operations allows you to attach relevant information to your system by using files, that can be consulted both by back office users and by your workers while on the shop floor, such as:

  • A detailed description of the customer's order;

  • Specific work instructions for an operation;

  • Setup instructions for machines;

File types & entities

You can attach different file formats: csv, xlsx, xls, pdf, png, jpeg, dwg, dxf, fbx, igs, iges, obj, sat, skp, smt, stp, step, stl, usdz.

The maximum size per file is 25MB. Files can be attached to:

  • Production Orders/Jobs

  • Purchase Orders

  • Sales Orders

  • Quotes

  • Products

  • Operations

  • Machines

  • Lots

How to attach Files?

Associate files to machines

The steps below show how to associate a file to a machine. The process to add files to products, operations and lots is similar.

1. Navigate to the "Machines" tab, and choose the machine to which you want to attach a file

2. Scroll down to the "Files" tab, and click on "Click or drop here files to upload"

3. Select one or more files from your computer or drag your files to this tab.

4. Save the machine

Attaching files to Production Orders/Jobs

The steps below show how to associate a file to a production order/job. The process to add files to sales orders, purchase orders and quotes is similar.

1. Navigate to the "Production Orders"/"Jobs" tab, and choose the production order/job to which you want to attach a file

2. Scroll down to the "Advanced Fields" tab

3. Select one or more files from your computer or drag your files to this tab.

4. Save the production order/job

Important notes on file management ⚠️

  • By default, files won't be active on the tablet. To activate/deactivate them, (1) click on the smartphone. If you want to activate/deactivate all the files attached to an entity, (2) click "Show All" / "Hide All".

  • Files can only be accessed on the tablet for production orders/jobs, products, operations and machines. All other files can only be seen from the management interface.

  • You can download and preview by clicking on the options below the file name (1), and delete them below the smartphone icon (2).

Viewing files on tablet

A worker must start a production to be able to view the attached files. After starting a production, click on "View files" button to view the files linked to that production order, product, operation, or machine.

Note: despite being possible to attach different file formats, only pdf, png, jpeg can be seen in the tablet. The remaining file types can be seen but not open.

Pro-tip: Would you like to have the product image displayed on its header sheet? Check this article.
