In this article we will explore the option that Autodesk Fusion Operations offers of receiving products that are associated to a Purchase Order with serial umbers in your mobile app.

Setting up

First make sure that your settings are as you need them:

  • Activate the option 'Enable to register lots/serial numbers'

  • If you're receiving with lots and want them to be autogenerated, select the setting 'Auto generate lots when receiving purchase orders' and make sure to fulfil the 'Auto lot generation format'. If you do not want autogeneration make sure to have the option unselected.

  • If you're receiving with serial numbers please enable the setting 'Allow to have serialized products and production records by SN' and in the products enable the option: 'Serializable'.

To auto generate serial numbers make sure to activate the setting 'Auto generate serial numbers' and to fulfil the 'Auto serial number receiving format'. In the products make sure to have the 'Automatic serial number' enabled.

In the table below you have a summary of what to activate depending on your needs:

All automatic serial numbers

All manual serial numbers

Both automatic and manual

Auto generate serial numbers (setting)

Auto serial number receiving format (setting)

Automatic serial number (product configuration)

✅ - for automatic

❌ - for manual

How to receive with serial numbers?

In order to further explain this ‘Receiving’ feature with lots and serial numbers, we've created a small setup from a company that sells cakes.

We have received orders for 20 chocolate cakes, 30 strawberry cakes and 50 orange cakes. As a result, we want to purchase and receive the products needed to fulfill these orders.

The first step is to create the purchase orders. You can check the ones we created in the picture below.

Note that the products have a different configuration of settings in order to explore most options:

Eggs: we want to auto generate serial numbers (check point 6.1)

Milk: we want to add the serial number manually (check point 6.2)

Now, it’s time to start registering a ‘Purchase Order Receiving’. Follow the steps below to learn how to do it. Note that the most of the steps are independent of the choice of configuration.

1. On the mobile device, click in ‘Receiving’

2. Choose the ‘Purchase Order’ that you are ‘Receiving’. Let’s start with the Purchase Order for the chocolate cakes.

3. Select the receiving you want if the Purchase order has several. We'll choose the first one:

4. Select the product you are ‘Receiving’ - we’ll go for the eggs for now.

5. Insert the quantity you are receiving and confirm by clicking in ‘OK’.

6. In this tab the serial numbers and lots are added depending of the configuration:

6.1 (Autogenerated serial numbers) Now you can see the serial numbers that are going to be generated accordingly with the quantity produced. You need to confirm in the bottom.

6.2 (Manually generated serial numbers) In this option when you add the serial number you can directly add all the other information: supplier lot, comment and expiration date, to do that press 'New Serial Number'.

7. After confirming you can add details (1) to one or to all serial numbers created such as: supplier lot, expiration date or comments.

You will see the information being added to the tiles (2), note that these fields are not mandatory.

8. Choose the warehouse and warehouse location you want to receive your product in.

9. Confirm the information. Now you can ‘Confirm and Add another’ if you want to receive the remaining products for this purchase order, ‘Submit and Print’ if you want a barcode of the receiving, or just ‘Submit’ the receiving you have performed.
