Autodesk Fusion Operations allows you to create and edit user roles, which can then be assigned to users. Whether you're scaling operations, improving data security, or clarifying responsibilities, this capability helps you ensure the right users have the right access.

How to create a User Role

1. Through the users panel (1), select sub panel "Roles" (2), then select "Add Role" (3).

2. Fill the Role "Code" (1)(Mandatory) and the "Description"(optional)(2).

3. For each category listed on the left (1), select the appropriate permission level (2)(Edit, View, None or Approve) according to the user’s access requirements.

Permissions determine what actions you can perform:

Approve - Full access to approve, create, modify, and delete entities. Available only in specific categories.
Authenticate - Access to authenticate, create, modify, and delete entities. Available only in the Devices category.
Edit - Access to create, modify, and delete entities.
View - Read-only access to view entities without making changes.
None - No access to view or edit entities.

4. After assigning access rights to all sections, click Save to create the role.

Note: There are predefined roles already available in the system. All predefined roles can be edited, except for the Admin role. The Admin role has access to all categories, without restrictions. Admin users can only be modified by other admin users, and there always needs to be at least one Admin user enabled at any moment in your Fusion Operations account.

How to assign "Roles" to users

1. From the users panel (1), open an existing user (2) whose role needs to be updated.

2. Select the new role that needs to be assigned (1) and save the user (2).

For detailed instructions on creating or inviting a new user, refer to the corresponding article.

Permissions Required for Tablet Buttons

When accessing the system as a user, you can preview the tablet interface and interact with it. The buttons available to each user depend on the permissions that they have. This ensures, for example, that a user with no access to Production Records cannot create a Production Record via the tablet interface preview.

Below are the permissions required to enable access to each tablet button in Autodesk Fusion Operations when accessing the tablet interface as a user.

Note: When accessing the tablet interface as an input device, the Worker has access to the buttons defined on the Device Setup.

Pro Tip 1: If you want to apply the same access permissions to all sections, you can use the Apply to All option.

Pro Tip 2: There is a search box that filters the table not only by the category, but also by the tooltip. For example, searching by "material" will return the inventory, inventory movements & lots category, as it contains within it the access to the material request feature.
