Before start collecting downtime data, you must create downtime reason codes which represent the cause of the downtime. You can create as many reason codes as you need, and configure them to represent what is taking place on your factory.
To create a downtime reason code, follow the steps below.
1. On the left menu, click on Reason Codes (nested under Downtime).
2. Click on + Add Downtime Reason Code.
3. Fill (1) the downtime Code (mandatory) and (2) Description (optional), and check (3) the boxes under the Advanced Fields that can define the type of downtime you are creating. See below what each box means.
Allow Worker to insert additional notes: When closing the downtime record, workers are presented with a text box in which they can enter additional information about the downtime recorded.
Calendar (discounts presence time): Include any general break, such as a bank holiday or vacations. Calendar Downtimes will discount the presence time of a worker on the factory and are displayed on workers worktime report. These downtimes should not be used on machines, only on workers.
Idle: This option enables stopped machines to appear as available on the status dashboard, and production records to be started on them. However, if active, this downtime discounts production time to production records. If a machine has a production record and an idle downtime, a warning on the machine’s dashboards will be displayed.
Reason code for workers: Activating this option will prevent the downtime record from being associated to machines.
Planned: Expected downtimes which may have estimated times. They can be assigned to a product, machine or machine component;
Reclassifiable: Activate this option if you want to allow the reclassification of a Downtime Reason Code in the middle of an operation.
Requires worker: When a worker starts a machine downtime, both will be associated to the downtime record. This downtime will count as work time for that worker and can be seen on the worker’s worktime report.
4. Save the downtime reason code.
5. After saving the downtime reason code, please ensure that it is associated with the machine (if it's a reason code for a machine); otherwise, it will not be available for selection when inserting the downtime.
