Learn how to create an Autodesk Platform Services (APS) application, generate an OAuth 2.0 access token using Postman, and use the token to make a request to the Autodesk Fusion Operations API v2.
Autodesk Fusion Operations API v2 uses the Autodesk Platform Services (APS) authentication method. You can consult the Fusion Operations API v2 documentation here.
Create an APS application
1. Go to the APS My Apps page and select Create application.
2. Enter a name for the application (1), select Traditional Web App (2) as the application type, and click Create (3).
3. Configure the application as follows: replace the Callback URL with https://oauth.pstmn.io/v1/browser-callback (1), Select Fusion Operations API and User Profile API under API Access (2), and click Save changes (3).
Connect the APS application to Fusion Operations.
1. From the APS application, copy the Client ID.
2. In Fusion Operations, open your user menu and select Integrations.
3. Under Fusion Operations API, click Configure.
4. Click Add to create a new link to an APS application.
5. Enter a Name for the integration, paste the APS Client ID, and click Save Link.
Configure OAuth 2.0 and generate the access token in Postman
For more information about generating a three-legged access token, refer to the Generate a three-legged token article.
1. In Postman, create a new Collection, open the Authorization tab, and select OAuth 2.0 as the Auth Type.
2. Under Configure New Token, enter a Token Name and select Authorization Code as the Grant Type.
3. Configure the OAuth URLs as follows:
Callback URL:
https://oauth.pstmn.io/v1/browser-callbackAuth URL:
https://developer.api.autodesk.com/authentication/v2/authorizeAccess Token URL:
https://developer.api.autodesk.com/authentication/v2/tokenFrom your APS application, copy and enter the Client ID and Client Secret in Postman.
Enter
data:readin Scope, this will allow you to get data from Fusion Operations. If in the future you also want to edit the data enterdata:writein Scope.Leave State blank, and select Send as Basic Auth header under Client Authentication.
Sign in with your Autodesk account in the browser and authorize the application.
3. Once the token is generated successfully, click Use Token to apply it to the Postman collection.
The access token is now ready to be used to authenticate requests to the Fusion Operations API v2.
Example: Use the access token to retrieve Products using the Fusion Operations API v2
For a complete list of available API v2 endpoints, refer to the Fusion Operations REST API Reference.
1. Create a new request in Postman and select GET as the request method and enter the Products endpoint: https://api.aps.autodesk.com/fusion-operations/v2/products.
2. Open the Authorization tab and ensure OAuth 2.0 is inherited from the collection, allowing the request to use the access token generated in the previous steps and click Send.
3. A successful request returns a 200 OK response with the Products available in your Fusion Operations account.
