We are happy to announce an upcoming feature in Fusion Operations designed to help you maintaining your Production Orders list organized and clean. The new Recommended Actions screen will provide you insights on the Orders that require your attention, and what actions you should take.
Action types
There will be two types of actions:
Recommended: the system has identified a reason for you to take action, that you should evaluate and - depending on your analysis - comply
Urgent: if the recommended action is left unattended for a certain amount of time, it will become urgent. These actions (that do not apply to all types of actions) will be taken automatically by the system 7 days after becoming urgent
To know more about the rules for an action to be identified as recommended, and to go from recommended to urgent, check the section below.
Action rules
There are 5 different issues displayed on this list, with distinct characteristics and rules.
The Production Order has been ongoing for too long
Production Orders that span throughout an excessive period of time become increasingly difficult to schedule, get an idea of progress, and analyze.
Therefore, when production data has been collected for a Production Order for over 9 months the system will display a recommendation for it to be closed. If the order remains open for 3 additional months, the action will be highlighted as urgent. From this moment onwards you will have 7 days until the order gets automatically closed by the system. For this type of alert, the system will duplicate the order when closing it.
The Production Order is approaching the Production Records limit
Production Orders with an excessive amount of records increase the difficulty on analyzing their progress and data in general, and therefore breaking larger orders into smaller ones is recommended.
Therefore, when the count of production records on a Production Order exceeds 9,000 the system will display a recommendation for it to be closed. If the order remains open and exceeds 10,000 production records, the action will be highlighted as urgent. From this moment onwards you will have 7 days until the order gets automatically closed by the system. For this issue, the system will duplicate the order when closing it.
The Production Order has its start delayed
Production Orders not started for a long time after their scheduled start date strongly suggest that they were cancelled or that the start date was incorrectly entered.
As a consequence, when the production order has a start date from over 2 months ago and it has no collected production data the system will display a recommendation to be closed. If the order remains open for 1 additional month with no production activity, the action will be highlighted as urgent. From this moment onwards you will have 7 days until the order gets automatically closed by the system.
The Production Order has no recent activity
Production Orders that do not have production recorded for a long time may indicate that their production has been finalized, and therefore they should be closed.
Therefore, when an order is open but has no production data being recorded for 30 days, the system will display a recommendation for it to be closed. This action never progresses to the urgent type, and therefore the corresponding Production Orders are never automatically closed by the system.
The Production Order contains raw materials
If a Production Order contains raw materials, then some of its products cannot be produced. To fix this issue either the raw materials should be removed from the Production Order, or operations should be added to each product.
As a consequence, when a production order contains at least one product with no operations the system will display an issue. This action never progresses to the urgent type, and therefore the corresponding Production Orders are never automatically closed by the system.
Filters
To simplify the analysis of the production orders displayed in the screen, it is possible to filter by action type: urgent, maintenance, or all actions.
It is also possible to filter by issue, meaning that you can check all the orders with a delayed start, no recent activity, and others.
Possible outcomes
When a production order is identified as recommended or urgent, an analysis must be performed to understand if there is indeed the need for it to be kept open, or if it can be instead closed, duplicated or edited. The action depends on the issue linked to each order.
The Production Order has been ongoing for too long
If the order has been ongoing for too long it is recommended to be closed. If there is the need to keep working on it, then it must be duplicated.
The Production Order is approaching the Production Records limit
Likewise, if the order has been ongoing for too long it is recommended to be closed. If there is the need to keep working on it, then it must be duplicated.
The Production Order has its start delayed
If the order was not started long after its scheduled start, we suggest the order to be closed if it was indeed cancelled and no production is expected. If the production is still pending, then its start date should be edited to match the new scheduled start date.
The Production Order has no recent activity
If the order hasn't had new records for more than 30 days it may indicate that its production is over and therefore it can be closed. If, on the contrary, there will be additional work on it but there are missing raw materials or it is waiting for capacity, the order is suggested to be kept open.
The Production Order contains raw materials
If the order contains raw materials then you must delete the raw materials it contains, or add operations to the products that have no operations.
With this feature you now have better tools to manage your data in Fusion Operations, ensuring that your workers only see the necessary data in the mobile interface, and that you keep your data in great shape.
Pro-tip: If you like to ensure that you never miss any urgent alerts, make sure you create the alert "Recommended actions: Urgent actions are pending" for you and other Fusion Operations users. This alert is triggered once per day and contains data on which are the urgent actions that require your immediate attention.
The alert "Recommended actions: Urgent actions have been taken" is also available, so that you know when actions have been taken by the system.
